Dakar 2010 leaves imprint in Antofagasta
By way of an agreement between Amaury Sport Organization (ASO) and Un Techo para Mi País, the organizers of the most important rally in the world will finance the construction of 40 transitional houses in Argentina and three education centers in Chile. The donation was officially presented on Saturday, January 9 at 11 a.m., taking advantage of the day of rest of the pilots in Antofagasta.
For the second consecutive year, the Dakar Rally will sponsor Un Techo para Mi País by donating 112,000 dollars which will be used in the foundation’s work with the families living in human settlements in Argentina and Chile. On Saturday, January 9th, in a symbolic gesture, the field director, Etienne Lavigne, and the President Michelle Bachelete handed a check to the Social Sub Director of the NGO, Maximiliano Pérez.
Similarly, during the pilots’ stay in the II region of Chile, Un Techo para Mi País took advantage of the moment to bring attention to the work that the foundation performs with the families that live in human settlements throughout Latin America. In order to emphasize this work they replicated a transitional house with the goal of recreating the reality and demonstrating to the world the extreme poverty conditions in which millions of families on the continent still live.
As in the installation in Antofagasta, from December 29th through the 31st, Un Techo para Mi País recreated the construction in the Dakar Rally Exposition in La Rural and was present with a corporate image on the day of the competition awards in the Obelisk of Buenos Aires.
