“Casa en el Aire” (house in the air) is an emergency house from Un Techo, which is constructed in a 39 feet high structure in the middle of Buenos Aires.
“We have to do this so you are aware”
Starting today, September 13, until September 18th, four volunteers will live in this house, with the objective of creating awareness about how unattainable a home can be for thousands of families that live in slums in Argentina.
This initiative is the official launch of Argentina’s 2010 campaign, which will end with a National Street Fund-raising on September 17th and 18th.
You can follow news about the House in the Air through UTPMP Argentina’s Facebook or Twitter.
“We are designing real, actionable solutions to help improve the daily lives of the people living in the campamentos. This is a serious challenge to create real social change.” – Jacqueline Black, Student, Product Design
SAFE AGUA CHILE is a project in partnership with the Art Center College of Design. Twelve students traveled to Santiago, Chile and spent 12 days among the poorest families living in slums/”campamentos”. The students developed new tools for using, storing, and transporting water to improve the quality of life of impoverished families.
As well as presenting on the Cumulus Conference in Shanghai, an Exhibition of Safe Agua will be on view from September 8th through October 7th at the College of Design and Innovation, Tongji University, China.
